#MMSocialReport October 26, 2018

Halloween is just around the corner, are you hungry for some sweet, juicy information? Our MM Social Report has it all! Youtube is promising to be more transparent with their users, while Twitter is on the mission to improve on their conversation on their platform. Read what features other social media platforms are adding!

1. YouTube promises creators more transparency and expanded features

by @MattBinder @mashable

Youtube announces that they are going to be more transparent with its content creators; from updates on their twitter and their Creator Insider channel, to rolling out their user backend “Youtube Studio” across all channels by 2019, now’s your chance to be the next Youtuber.

2. Instagram group video calling expanded to support up to six people

by @ChanceHMiller via @9to5mac

Instagram announces that its video calling feature will now be able to support up to six people in a single call. Originally only being able to support only four, users can now call their whole friend group at the same time. Ditch your group chat because making weekend plans just got a whole lot easier.

3. How Twitter is testing ways to improve ‘conversation’

by @kerrymflynn @Digiday

Twitter wants to improve the discourse on its platform. What does that mean? Redesign elements of the core Twitter experience like replies to tweets, but also developing new features like statuses, an indicator of who’s online and a redesign of threads with color-coded replies.

4. Facebook is creating a TikTok competitor called Lasso

by @dami_lee @TheVerge

We have moved on from the days of hair brushes as microphones and bedroom mirrors as stages for all lip syncing purposes. Facebook is now creating an app to compete with other popular lip syncing apps. Users can create 15 second videos of themselves lip syncing to their favorite songs and share them with friends. Now go be your own pop star and share your talents with the world…maybe the hair brush could still be of use.

5. SoundCloud tracks can now be shared to Instagram Stories

by @sarahintampa @TechCrunch

SoundCloud is now making it easier to share those indie tracks and remixes you love to your Instagram stories. But there’s a catch — the tracks are shared as a link that users have to click, which then redirects them to SoundCloud’s app to begin listening.

MM’s Pick of the Week!

Thought you didn’t have baby fever? Think again. In this heart melting video, a little girl is faced at an early age with the struggles of modern day technology. She repeatedly demands that Alexa plays her favorite jam but alas, the device doesn’t seem to comply. With a little help from her mom she is able to get her groove on. ALEXA, PLAY BABY SHARK (doo doo doo doo doo doo)
