Social media keeps evolving. There’s always a new feature or a new app threatening to change the game. We keep up with them all so that you don’t have to. From Apple’s new video editing app to Instagram potentially competing with Yelp—here are the top five social media headlines for the week.

1. Apple Announces New Video Editing App Clips. Here’s How It Works

Next month Apple will launch their video editing option for iOS. Clips is going to be a free app for putting videos together and publishing them. 

Apple’s main goal was to make the app simple and easy to use. Here, Lisa Eadicicco, having tested Clips, examines how the app achieves this and how it compares to other social video apps like Snapchat.

2. Reddit adds user profiles to morph into a real social network

Reddit is changing. It has always been based on communities, but now, by introducing user profiles, it pays more attention to the individual. Reddit is now closer to Facebook and Twitter.

3. Instagram could transform into a Yelp competitor

5. Google is letting celebs speak directly to fans via search results

Google now allows for celebrities to “post” directly to their search results. That is, they can post a status for whoever googles their name to see.
