Today, we’re excited to spotlight our Account Manager Alea Gilhuly-Mandel! Alea’s been with Metter Media since the first days of 2020 (what a wild ride) — but it feels like she’s been with us forever! We’re constantly impressed by Alea’s client relations skills, positive attitude, and support of the MM team. Added bonus: we get regular standup sessions from Grandpa Jack “The Joke King” + cameos from her mom Tracey.
We’re so #blessed to have Alea on the MM team! Learn more about her social media journey below.
How did you get your start in social media?
When I moved to London to complete my Master’s Degree in Public Relations, I interned at a digital insurance agency called Brandnation. I had the chance to intern with their Social Media department, with a specific focus on their fashion clients. After having the opportunity to work specifically on social media accounts and blog writing, I knew this was the career path I wanted to pursue.
When did you join Metter Media?
January 2020 – and it changed my life for the better! Working with a group of empowering young women has reminded me that we can continuously support each other during every opportunity. We all inspire each other and consistently challenge each other to be the best social media creators we can be.
Why is social media important/relevant to your industry?
Passing along insurance information in a creative way grabs the eye of potential customers. Sometimes insurance can be boring – by making it fun and unique, our target audience can learn something new about their insurance policy and fall in love with a creative insurance client!
What campaigns have you helped create that make your clients stand out from the rest?
I’ve really enjoyed working with one of our newer clients, Gaudette Insurance, to create a campaign called #GuidedByGaudette. We share important insurance facts in a fun and creative way, instead of using stock images and boring facts.
What’s your #MMProTip?
As an account manager, you represent your client’s voice — and that’s an empowering feeling. You help make your client stand out from the crowd, so creating unique content that elevates their messaging is how you’ll help a brand succeed.
Proudest moment so far?
Realizing that you have to be open to learning every day. With social media, it’s an evolving phenomenon that is changing with every breath. Taking a moment each day to learn something new is the only way to succeed.
