Client Spotlight: Cambridge Community Foundation

Located right around the corner from our Metter Media office in the heart of Central Square is local nonprofit Cambridge Community Foundation (CCF). Built, funded, and guided by residents since 1916, they are a convener and catalyst for transformative change to create a vibrant and inclusive Cambridge community for all. In 2019, together with their donors, CCF invested $1.7 million in grants to 150 nonprofits and scholarships, supporting access to high-quality education, economic opportunity, stable housing, and cultural richness.

Who Is The Cambridge Community Foundation?

Thanks to the support of many amazing donors and nonprofit partners, the Foundation works as a grantmaker to identify and invest in local organizations providing social services, academic support, cultural enrichment, and economic mobility and opportunity. Their mission is to create a future for Cambridge that is a bright beacon of shared prosperity, social equity, and cultural richness.

CCF On Social

Here are some of the campaigns we have developed to help highlight the amazing work of the Cambridge Community Foundation.

COVID-19 Emergency Relief Funds

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation launched two emergency relief funds to support local businesses, the community’s most vulnerable residents, and the arts and culture sector of Cambridge. Recognizing that many members of the community are facing unforeseen hardships and loss of income, these funds will provide grants to those in need in the coming months.

At Metter Media, we pivoted CCF’s social media efforts to focus on promoting these two important funds, and have made their social channels a positive resource for members of the Cambridge community right now.

The Cambridge COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund will support low-income families, the elderly, hourly employees without work, the self-employed, and trades people who need emergency relief for the most basic needs.

The Cambridge Artist Relief Fund will support members of the Cambridge arts and culture sector who have lost income as a result of canceled shows, venue closures, and bans on gatherings larger than 10 people.

#DonorSpotlight

Without the support of their many amazing donors, the Foundation wouldn’t be able to help give back to as many local organizations as they do today. It is thanks to their passion and commitment that they are able to do the work they do to create a better future for Cambridge.

#NonprofitSpotlight

There are so many amazing organizations that the Cambridge Community Foundation partners with and supports to help create a brighter future for all. This series helps us showcase the work they do for all of us here in Cambridge.

Earlier this month, our team went on a site visit to the @cambcommcenter, a nonprofit that has been serving children, youth, and families throughout Cambridge for 90 years. What makes the CCC so special is the people. In particular, Yvonne Gittens, known affectionately as “Ms. G”, was raised as a “Center kid” and her parents also spent time at the CCC when they were young. Ms. G’s first job was as a camp counselor for the Center. Later, she went on to spend 30 years on its board, and a year as E.D. Now in retirement, she continues to be a friendly face to another generation of “Center kids”, saying “if you come to the Center, you’re going to be taken care of.” Last week, Ms. G was honored at the inaugural “Ms. K” Sisters of the Center Award, recognizing her longtime, positive impact on the Center & Cambridge. Congratulations, Ms. G!
