Client Spotlight: Cushman Insurance Group

Here at Metter Media, we’re proud to work with 10+ local insurance agents and carriers in Massachusetts and beyond, getting their unique voices and personalities out there online. Today, we’re excited to spotlight our client Cushman Insurance Group!

On one fateful day back in March 2018, Director of Sales and Business Development at Cushman, Ted Hughes, reached out to Metter Media. We were pleasantly surprised to see that Ted had already been incorporating some hilarious memes on Cushman’s Instagram feed, but he was looking to take their social media presence to the next level and to reach the next generation of insurance buyers. Ted even had follower goals written down on the whiteboard in his basement office from the moment we walked in.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve not only grown Cushman’s following and exceeded Ted’s goals, but we’ve also made #GeorgeTheDog even more of a celeb, incorporated tons of fun, trendy, but informative insurance content, and gotten the word out about Cushman as a top local independent insurance agent for almost 100 years in the areas where they have offices: Brockton, Norton, Lakeville, South Attleboro or Halifax.

We love working with local agents because social media is just another way they can be available to their customers locally, and to get the word out about their unique stories. And Cushman has TONS of personality. We have created an array of series for them — but a few of our favorites include #CushmanCares, #ClubCushman, and #GeorgeTheDog.

#CushmanCares Campaign

Whether it’s an organization working to end homelessness, a food pantry, or a veterans service center, there are so many amazing nonprofit organizations doing great work to help people and communities across Massachusetts — and Cushman is passionate about highlighting them — which is why we have created the #CushmanCares campaign.

Every month, Cushman Insurance Group spotlights a local organization that has shown great community presence and spectacular selflessness in the South Eastern Massachusetts area. Along with sharing their mission, Cushman offers to donate $1 to the organization for every ‘like’, share, and comment these posts receive. Since the first Cushman Cares spotlight last summer, they’ve donated thousands of dollars to local community organizations through this series — and are looking forward to watching this number grow in the months and years to come!

#GeorgeTheDog

George The Dog is the star of the Cushman Insurance Group social pages — people love seeing this cute, happy guy in their feeds!

Right now Cushman is in the middle of their #12DaysofGeorge campaign, where #GeorgeTheDog is giving his best tips ahead of Christmas Day. We’ve also used #GeorgeTheDog in Halloween costumes, office announcements, and many more insurance related posts. Who could deny that sweet face?

#ClubCushman

Why do people choose to work with local agents over national carriers? Because of the people. It’s all about knowing that when you call, you’ll get a real human on the other end of the line, who knows your local neighborhood — not an automated voice recording or a lizard. It’s with this in mind that we created the #ClubCushman staff spotlight series.

Along with spotlighting Cushman’s amazingly talented team for new clients to see who they’d talk to when they call, the series also celebrates each team member we spotlight — friends, family members, and coworkers tend to comment on these posts and recognize the staff member with positive comments about how much they love working with them.

This month we’d like to introduce you to another member of #ClubCushman — Ted Hughes! Ted is the Director of Sales and Business Development and has been a part of the Cushman team for 12 years! Although insurance runs in Ted’s blood — T. Robert Sullivan was actually Ted’s great-grandfather — Ted had no intention of working in insurance growing up. Ted started at Cushman Insurance when Mike Hoadley, one of the owners at Cushman, gave him a shot as a Commercial Lines Producer right out of college. In 2010, when Cushman acquired T. Robert Sullivan Insurance from Ted’s uncle, he split his time between both agencies and his responsibilities then grew to his current role. Ted’s favorite part about working at Cushman is that each day is different: “Even though a lot of people view insurance as a boring thing, there’s a lot of stuff that happens that we get to deal with, which is exciting.” Knowing he’s able to help clients when they need it most is also very rewarding: “God forbid there’s a claim, we’re able to help! We also want good things to happen to our customers like buying a new home, purchasing a dream car, or hiring a new employee and we’re right there beside them to guide them through the process.” When Ted isn’t at work he enjoys golfing, playing basketball and hanging out with his dog George — who you may be able to find in our #WheresGeorge posts. Ted also enjoys cooking with his wife and is actually participating as a “celebrity chef” in New Hope Inc.’s Gourmet Guys Cooking Competition tonight to help raise donations and awareness for this wonderful organization! We’ll leave you with one of Ted’s best pieces of insurance advice: “When you purchase insurance you shouldn’t think about price, you should think about protection because at the end of the day you’ll be kicking yourself if you got the wrong insurance just to save some money.”
