How The Metter Media Team Is Staying Connected

As we’ve adjusted to working entirely remote over the last two months, the Metter Media team has had to get creative to maintain our company culture and stay connected. We’re all craving human connection right now and if we can’t be in the office together, we’ll settle for the next best thing — virtual meetings and hangouts. We’ve always said “Get Online or Get Left Behind” and that’s true now more than ever.

Here are a few of the ways our employees have been keeping in touch during this time.

Taking Our Meetings Virtual

Like most companies, we transitioned our meetings from in-person visits and phone calls to video conferences. And, even though it’s not ideal, it helps us stay connected as best we can for the time being. From our staff and team meetings to client meetings and skill shares, having some face-to-face time, even if it’s through a screen, has helped us feel connected.

Staying Fit Together

Lucky for us, one of our team members, Kim Valentine, is a Pilates instructor and has been treating us to some virtual classes over the last few weeks. And, if you haven’t caught our Instagram stories lately, she’s been sharing weekly stretching routines to help all our followers get up and get moving throughout the workday.

Hosting Sip + Chats

If we can’t go out for real happy hours, virtual ones are the next best thing. Once a week, we get together online to play games, chat about the week, what we’ve been up to in quarantine, and of course, sip on our drink of choice. This gives us a chance to catch up with each other outside of the workday and unwind.

Going Live

In a report from Later, Instagram Live views doubled within the first week of the COVID-19 pandemic alone. As one of the easiest ways for us to connect with each other and our followers, we’ve been sharing weekly series on Instagram stories and Instagram Live highlighting what we’ve been baking, watching, listening to, and we’ve even had a live recap of the Netflix series Tiger King from Katherine Bennett and Hannah Graves — costumes and props included.

Keeping open lines of communication

Though many of us have begun adapting to this new way of life, these are still very challenging times. Now, more than ever, it’s important to support one another and check-in on coworkers. Navigating this time is new for all of us, but it helps to know you have others to lean on should you need it.

We’re looking forward to the days when we can visit our clients and meet with our coworkers in the office again but for now, we’ll keep staying connected virtually and hope to see everyone again soon.
