How did you get your start in social media?

I had three of the best social media internships ever in college at Rise Nightclub, the Together festival, and HubSpot. Social media wasn’t exactly taught in school at the time, so got my start jumping right into the field with hands-on experience marketing events, products, and services through social media.

When did you join Metter Media?

September, 2014.

Why is social media important/relevant to your industry?

Everybody — businesses and consumers — are on it. It’s a way people seek information rather than doing a Google search or going to a website. For example, when deciding on a restaurant to visit, I visit their Instagram to see photos of their food (posted by both the restaurant and customers) rather than going to their website. If they’re not on Instagram, I probably won’t consider going.

What campaigns have you helped create that make your clients stand out from the rest?

I’ve done some great event campaigns combining social media posts, email and text message marketing, and TV commercials all together, resulting in sold-out events. It’s really cool to be able to track views on social media posts back to a commercial someone saw on TV! Also, with my nightlife clients, I aim to be as visual as possible, meaning less event flyers and more content featuring the venues, attendees, and event as a whole.

What’s a typical day-in-the-life for you at Metter?

My day always starts making waffles or a smoothie, followed by going through emails and making lists for the day with my cats by my side. My favorite days are when I can play with and take pictures of food at my restaurant clients.  If I’m not at the office or on-site at a client, I’ll work from my home office or a coffee shop. I’m a night owl, so I’ll do a lot of creative work that isn’t time-sensitive during late hours when there are less distractions. I also have a bunch of events to choose from with my nightlife clients, so I have some fun nights out doing live coverage and Instagram stories on the spot.

What’s your #MMProTip?

Be consistent! This refers to aesthetic, language, and posting on a regular basis.

Proudest moment so far?

Reaching 10k Instagram followers for one of my accounts in only a few months — this was a super important goal for them and they were very pleased!
