Joey’s Weekly Game of Thrones Meme Roundup | Episode 8.05

After 10 years and nearly 8 seasons we finally got the long anticipated showdown between Game of Thrones’s heroes and villains, or villains and heroes? or villains and inexplicably worse villains? It’s safe to say the battle for King’s Landing left the fan base split — leaving some fans gleefully entertained and satisfied with the brutality and shock of the episode, while other fans felt that certain arcs were negated and various events felt unearned. Nevertheless, the internet did what the internet does best, meme the living hell out of everything that occurs in this world. Here are my favorite memes from this week’s slaughter!

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Game of Thrones episode 8.04!

This Week’s Clear Frontrunner: The Death of Logic (and good writing, imho)

I’ll make no attempt to hide the fact that I fall into the latter camp of fans I mentioned in my intro, however, I cannot deny the battle for King’s Landing was a gloriously shot spectacle, the writing on the other hand…

Emilia Clarke is clearly a big fan of Dany’s abrupt descent into the fabled ‘Mad Queen’

“This ain’t what I died for” — Jorah “wtf happened” Mormont

Like or not, Varys, ‘King of the Messy Bitches,’ earned the greatest ‘I told you so’ in Westerosi history

After these last two episodes, I have no idea how killable or unkillable dragons are in this show.

Love it or hate it, Jaime ends up with Cersei in the end,

Dany must have forgot this promise she made.

As, she is now, Queen of the Ashes…

Everyone on the ground in Kings Landing:

We finally saw Cersei Lannister receive her just desserts.

Some fans had grievances to air,

Justice for Ghost, I will die on this hill.

Lastly: The Funnies

Whether you enjoyed last night’s episode or not, it’s certainly been a wild ride and we still have the aftermath to deal with next week! Until then I’ll leave you with my final prediction for the end of the series,

Joey’s Weekly Game of Thrones Meme Roundup | Episode 8.04

Week Four

So, this week we certainly got an episode. Though there were ups (and downs, many downs), the internet has made good on its unspoken promise to deliver an onslaught of memes for literally anything that occurs, ever. So without further ado, here are my favorite memes from week four of Game of Thrones season eight.

Joey’s Weekly Game of Thrones Meme Roundup | Episode 8.03

Week Three: The Night WAS Dark and FULL of Terrors

The highly anticipated Battle of Winterfell has come and gone, or — more accurately — come and left us all broken. Eleven weeks to film, 750 people on set, a 15 million dollar budget, and the longest run time of any Game of Thrones episode, resulting in one of the longest battle sequences in television history was bound to result in some memes, right? Right. Here are my favorites from the internet’s collective processing of all the stress, panic, anger, confusion, heartbreak, and sheer terror we all felt this past Sunday. Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Game of Thrones episode 8.03!

Client Spotlight: Boston Landing

Boston Landing Client Spotlight

Home to New Balance, the Celtics, AND the Bruins — Boston Landing is a sports lover’s dream. But that’s not all. You’ve got Cambridge Naturals (#obsessed), Rail Stop (best drinks ever), Flatbread (pizza + bowling = life), Mainely Burgers (get in my belly), the NB Global Flagship (ALL the shoes), the NB Fitness Club (hello #fitspo), and Lantera ( … basically our dream apartment building).

With so much going on, Boston Landing makes our job easy — there’s never a lack of content! But before this 16-acre health and wellness hub became what it is today, the development needed a way to spread the word about the awesome changes coming… and making the right first impression was everything. Cue: Metter Media.

Joey’s Weekly Game of Thrones Meme Roundup

Our culture is producing content at an increasingly fast rate every year, which allows content creators to cater to more varied niches and interest groups. It’s likely that your friend has binged at least three or four TV shows you’ve never even heard of. Someone’s favorite movie may be something you’ve never seen a trailer for. However, in the summer of 1976 when Spielberg’s Jaws was released, everyone from your grandmother to your college roommate would have seen it, if not at the very least been aware of the film’s existence. As we create more and more content it seems like the big cultural ‘must sees’ are coming fewer and farther in between simply because there’s just so much to see.

That’s why this last season of Game of Thrones feels so special. It feels like the last remaining bastion from the era of “appointment television” coming to an end. Aside from Game of Thrones, an awards ceremony, or a sporting event, what was the last thing you remember saying “Did you see x last night” in reference to the following day to a co worker or classmate? Game of Thrones is seemingly the last scripted cultural phenomenon that fans tune in to watch on a weekly basis, live tweeting, sharing theories, and of course — since it’s 2019 — memes.

Memes have become such a ubiquitous part of the cultural conversation in the digital age we live in, so naturally, one of the largest pieces of pop culture coming to an end is an extremely memeable affair. In honor of Game of Thrones coming to an end I will be rounding up and discussing my favorite memes from the week that follows each new episode until the finale. After all, the night is dark and full of terrors, so here are some memes:

5 Instagram Accounts We’re Loving This Month

We’re big on inspiration here at Metter Media … and in the world of social media, there’s plenty of it to go around. With over 95 million images being posted to Instagram every single day, why would you not look to this platform as a source of inspo? I mean, that is A LOT of content… and within that content, a lot of really great ideas. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking someone’s idea, figuring out how you could make it work for your brand or client, and then tweaking it so it’s something totally new and brilliant. Sometimes a little dose of inspo from someone else is all you need to get those creative juices flowing.

From incredibly witty campaigns to gorgeously crafted aesthetics, here are some accounts we can’t get enough of this month on Instagram:

Keeping Your Mental Health A Priority While Using Social Media

Close up female sitting in meditation pose on a wooden floor opposite a smartphone

Social media has completely taken the world by storm, providing a bridge of communication and connection between individuals, companies, even countries. While social media can be toxic, we love its positive qualities and interconnectivity — and can’t tell you to go cold turkey. We’ve made changes to these platforms along the way and platforms have rolled out new features, like Facebook’s Crisis Response, allowing users to mark themselves as ‘safe’ in case of a crisis.

While there are body-positive posts all over Instagram, and messages of being kind and paying it forward, social media can still be damaging to your mental health. Sometimes we forget to check in with ourselves, ignoring the small yet dire effects social media places upon us. As a college student interning for a social media management company, I’m exposed to A LOT of social media, thus inspiring this piece, as I try both old and new tips to focus on my mental health despite having the world at my fingertips.
