About Ashley:
Do you have any pets?
Funny you should ask — Our adoption papers just went through and as of August 16th, I have one adorable rescue pup! (And yes, we fully intend to give her an Instagram page.)
Favorite food to eat?
Really depends on my mood but I guess I’d go with mac & cheese… I’m never not in the mood for mac & cheese.
Favorite food to Insta?
Smoothie bowls. I used to run a health & wellness Instagram account that at one point was just one giant feed of smoothie bowls. 🤷♀️
Where did you grow up?
I was born in San Diego where I lived for about 5 years until my parents decided to switch coasts. I spent the rest of my younger days growing up in Connecticut.
Where did you go to school?
I went to / graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, however I spent my Junior year at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
Any favorite vacation spots?
I don’t really have a vacation spot that I return to on the reg… there’s just way too many places to see to stick to one! I did just get back from a big camping trip that was pretty epic, though. We road tripped from Banff National Park in Canada down to Glacier National Park in Montana and it was absolutely amazing — the views are unreal.
Any favorite spots in the Boston area?
Anywhere long the Charles. I’m a California girl at heart so I need to be by the water, it’s in my blood.
Do you have any social media accounts that you run outside of Metter Media?
At one point I ran a health account called @bonafidefit. I’m pretty into about health and fitness (I even used to be a personal trainer!) so this was a great outlet to share my passion with the world. But then life happened and I got too “busy” to keep up with it. Lame excuse, I know. I’ve kept the account in existence so who knows, maybe I’ll pick it up again. Stay tuned.
Would you say that you have a certain style on social?
Not intentionally. I did just take a quick scroll through my personal account and I will say, it’s pretty vibrant — lots of landscape and sunsets. When I was working on @bonafidefit I’d say my style was bright and clean with a heavy lean towards the “cooler” hues.
Ashley @ Metter:
How long have you been with Metter Media?
Just over a year!
Which accounts do you manage?
Boston Landing, Lantera, Craigie on Main, Kirkland Tap & Trotter, The Phoenix Landing, The Rising and I’m now supervising other account managers on the Chateau, Jake n JOES and The Andi.
What’s your favorite project that you’ve contributed to?
Hmmm that’s a tricky one — I’ve worked on so many different projects that are hard to compare! One recent project that I had a blast creating was a “day in the life” video at Lantera (a luxury apartment building in Brighton).
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned while working at Metter?
Don’t be afraid to fail. Even if it’s something small, like an out-of-the-box social media campaign. Sure, it could be a complete flop. But it could also be a huge success. You don’t know unless you try.
Do you have anywhere that you look to for inspiration?
I go to the ‘gram. Whenever I need a little inspo I’ll just type a keyword into Instagram’s search bar and peruse. You’d be amazed at how many small brands and businesses are doing really cool things on social media!
How do you constantly keep yourself at the forefront of what’s happening on social?
I think that by virtue of being on social media all day long (it’s my job!), it’s hard to miss any big change or exciting feature that comes out. Plus, our team at Metter is constantly sharing articles about all the latest and greatest, so I think we all help to keep each other on top of our game.
How do you differentiate your approach for different accounts?
It all comes down to understanding the client. If you don’t truly know your client’s voice and values, you’ll probably come off sounding unauthentic. Once you’ve got the voice hammered down, the rest falls into place.
